Assessment title:Group presentation and group report of strategic issues
Purpose: The purpose of this assessment is to develop the learner’s skill to be able to distinguish between the various forces that affect a firm’s decision to activate corporate and business level strategies. It will use this knowledge to formulate a range of corporate, business level or functional strategies to address basic business challenges by applying two strategic analysis frameworks.

The assessment has two parts:
(1) PowerPoint slides (submitted by the group leader with all member first names, surnames, student numbers, unit code and assessment number) and
a YouTube video recording done by each individual member of the group. There need to be 10 slides (these summarise the report in item 2 below)
(2) A report (1500 words, 10 references) submitted by the group leader with all member first names,surnames, student numbers, unit code and assessment number.
You will need to use a minimum of 10 references of which at least half must be academic.
Your group leader needs to submit both items above on behalf of the team (only one student is to submit the work).
Description: This is a 10-slide PowerPoint set and a YouTube recording for each member of the group of 1-3 minutes (per person). The group size is 3-4 students.
Topics to be covered: Knowledge and skills from weeks 4 to 8 with a focus on distinguishing between the various forces that affect a firm’s decision to activate corporate and business level strategies and the formulation of
solutions to address basic business challenges.
The assessment also provides learners with the ability to engage in in-depth learning and analysis using theoretical models and to present findings.
The assessment will develop your reasoning skills and apply them to the assessment questions.
You will also be able to further develop your problem- solving skill sin the context of the assessment requirements
Extent of Research Required:
The extent of research required for this assessment is significant as it will need that you research target organisations and identify, though academic literature and industry publications, the main elements of information that will help answer the assessment question. You will also need to analyse academic literature and identify areas of relevance to your own argument to arrive at a conclusion that you can support.

The similarity must be 15% or less. Please make sure nothing is copied and the entire work is yours. Remember that there are no drafts, so whatever you submit needs to be your final piece of work. Assessments cannot be emailed and must be submitted to the correct link on Turnitin to be graded.
Academic misconduct, including plagiarism, cheating and third‐party assistance, is a serious offence and students will be severely penalised in any proven case.
Assessment length: 10 slides (+/-10%) exclude tables, bibliography and cover sheet. In addition to the slides, each member must record a 1-2 minute YouTube video (it must be on YouTube and must be accessible without the need for a log-in. Once graded, you will be free to delete the video from YouTube). When recording your video, your face and your voice must both be include and you must state your first name and your surname, mention the unit code and mention the assessment number at the start of the video.
If the group has four members, for example, there will need to be four individual videos (one for each member). The group leader will need to paste the links to these videos in the very last slide of the slides (after the
references). The links need to be “clickable” and work.

Quality of the report and the presentation slides and summary of issues
Depth, breadth and relevant of the content to the analysis of strategic issues

Level of reasoning and content argument
Collaboration among team members during the presentation

Feedback provided: Feedback on areas that were appropriate and those that need improvement using the marking rubric and written comments.

Using the two strategic management models of the Ansoff Matrix and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) matrix, you are required to conduct a strategic analysis of a product (only one product) for any firm of your choice form anywhere in the world. It can also be the firm you used in assessment 1 if you wish.
You will need to:
Introduce the company and 1 product that you will be analysing
Provide a background to the 2 main competitors to the firm
Identify the product strategic positioning using the Ans off matrix

The minimum number of references for this assessment is 10 with at least 5 of these being from academic journals.

This is a group assessment. You will need to form a group of 3-4 from students in your class. You do not need permission from the lecturer to form a group and you will need to appoint a group leader. This assessment requires you to select a firm. You cannot use the same firm as assessment 1. This needs to be a new firm. The firm can be any company of any size from anywhere in the world as long as it can be found online.
You will need to apply the Ansoff Matrix and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) matrix to this firm by critically analysing the strategic actions of the firm and whether they reflect the desired actions a firm should take.
The assessment will require 10 slides to be produced and you will present these slides. The slides will need to be submitted by the team leader using the Turnitin link on the unit portal. All group members will need to participate in the presentation. Members may receive similar or different marks for the in-class presentation depending on the skill used in their presentation and the responses to questions.
