To demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to provide children with an environment which incorporates play and learning, tailored to children’s individual needs the participant is required to undertake the following:

3. Facilitate children’s play, learning and physical activity for babies and toddlers
4.Support physical, social, emotional, cognitive and communication development of babies and toddlers
5. Create an environment for holistic learning and development for babies and toddlers
6. Gather and use information about babies and toddlers
7. Review babies and toddlers in various situations and use this to enhance play and learning

Assessment task
To demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to provide children with an environment which incorporates play and learning, tailored to children’s individual needs the participant is required to undertake the following:

1.Participants may use paper dictionaries but not electronic ones
2.Participants may ask the assessor for clarification on the question
3. Participants should complete the tasks in order starting with assessment task one
Assessment Task 2– Project 2
For this project you are to use the learning stories and reflections of the days gathered in assessment task 2 project 1. Using this information, you are required to create four (4) activities that could be used in an early education and care service to promote development of these children.You will need to provide detailed instructions so that anyone could pick them up and carry out the activity with children. Each activity should:
1.Address a different development area
2. At least one should be an individual one on one activity
3.One a group activity.
4. At least one should use puppet or prop’s
5. At least one should talk about patterns and symbols
Each activity should be for a different age group between the ages of zero (0) and eight (8)
You will also need to include all the information possible to assist someone else carry out these activities with children. You will be required to include things such as:
1.Safety checks to be carryout prior to the activity
2.Where the activity should take place
3.What precautionary steps should be taken to ensure children’s health and well being
4.What resources are needed
5. How many children can be involved in the activity?
6. What is the objective of the activity?
7. What scaffolding may be required
8. How can children be encouraged to get involved
9. How you will encourage children to respect each other
10. What learning outcomes of the framework will the activity address
11. How this activity maintains the rights of children in line with the UN’s rights for children
This assessment may be handwritten or produced on a computer. You may wish to include pictures of how the resources should be set up. Ensure you select realistic activities that you can carry out with children.
Include a short-written summary of why you have selected the activity and how it will support the development of the selected children.

You assessor will advise you of a date and a time. You will be observed for 10-15 minutes on 6 separate occasions. You will need to complete the first 4 with your workplace supervisor, and the remaining 2 with your assessor.

Observation One
This observation task will require you to carry out an activity for an individual child on three occasions with three different children. The activity you select must include props and must involve discussion on patterns or symbols. On two occasions your workplace supervisor will be completing the observation check list below and on the third occasion the assessor will complete the observations. You will need to provide your workplace supervisor with a copy of your planned activity prior to the observation. The observation should last for approximately 10-15 minutes, but you will be required to continue play with the child until the activity is complete. You should ensure that you assist the child in a way that is appropriate to their stage of development, physically, socially and cognitively. You will also need to complete learning stories or reflection of the day documentation and submit along with this assessment kit. Your workplace supervisor and assessor will be looking for you to demonstrate the following performance, skills and knowledge criteria:
