Major Assignment (Group Work):Group Formation:
You are required to form into groups of 4 members to complete this assessment task. By you are required to form your own team by enrolling yourself into a group via Moodle. If you fail to enrol yourself into a group via Moodle by the due date, the conven or will help you by randomly enrolling you into a group with vacancies. If you wish to change your group membership, you must discuss it with the unit convenor and seek his/her formal written approval. The unit convenor will decide at his/her discretion whether or not to approve the proposed change on a case-by-case basis. Changing group membership without the convenor’s approval may result in being awarded zero (0) mark for your assignment. A group list will be publicised on Moodle after the Census Date. It is every student’s responsibility to check this group list regularly and resort any group problem to the convenor in a timely manner.Each team MUST have a team leader who will be managing and coordinating the team. Upon forming up your team, the team leader is required to contact the unit convenor via email.

Tasks for Major Assignment:
Based on the given set of architectural plans, structural, engineer plans (see drawing list on Page 3), specification and geotechnical report for a proposed residential development in Sydney, your company has been engaged to provide the quantity surveying services to the Pre-tender stage of the project. The Project QS team is formed by 4 members, as Assistant Quantity Surveyors, you are requested by your Senior Quantity Surveyor to prepared the measurement for elements by using CosX software, according Australia and New Zealand Method of Measurement (see the elemental list on Page 4). Your measurement submission MUST include:
1.A project profile cover page (1 page only, .doc) that includes:
i)An Introduction (brief description of project);
ii)An Introduction (brief description of project);

2.Elemental Cost Breakdown Report (.PDF), Printed out using CostX in details to Level 3.
3. CostX Softcopy (.exf) that includes:
i.Uploaded drawings that are named and filed in the same format among all the group members’ works, showing the digital measurement;
ii.Created dimension groups that are named and filed in the same format among all the group members’works;
iii.Elemental workbook with quantities showing to:
- Layer 1 (Elemental Summary Sheet) – Summary of building elemental groups from ACMM;
- Layer 2 (Elemental Breakdown Sheet) – Detailed elemental breakdown and levels of description (refer to tutorial examples and ANZSMM. Students are required to work out the measurement item list, write out the detailed description of each item and identify the unit of measurement following the Standard.
- Layer 3 (Quantity Sheet) – measurement and Importation of dimension groups and calculation of quantities towards Layer 2 of the workbook.
- A CostX template has been uploaded to the Major Assignment Folder in Moodle
STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO CREATE OWN DIMENSION GROUP TO ASSIST THE MEASUREMENT. THIS TEMPLATE IS A REFERENCE FOR THE MAJOR ASSIGNMENT, STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO DEVELOP YOUR OWN WORKBOOK BASED ON THIS TEMPLATE. SUTENTS NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU READ THROUGH THE AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND STANDARD METHOD OF MEASUREMENT OF BUILDING WORKS 2018 EDITION AND APPLY THE RELEVANT SECTION TO EXPAND THE ITEM LIST AND DEVELOP THE DESCRIPTION OF EACH ITEM.
